HI, I'm Richie
I'm 55, married father of 2 boys, 23 and 21. My wife Lillian comes from a family of 6. I am an only child. We've been married for 27 years. When I first met my wife I was at work, at Logan Airport in Boston. I was driving a catering truck for a friend, making my rounds, when she and our mutual friend came to visit me. To be honest, I was interested in the friend. I had invited her to come and she brought Lil with her. The main thing I remember about that night was when they left, Lil gave me a little peck on the cheek, I didn't think anything of it.
A few weeks later, I invited the friend to a rooftop party in Boston. Once again she brought Lil with her. I was a little upset, wanting to be with the friend, so I was the creep and basically ignored them most of the night. Now we fast forward a little. Three months later, I get a new job, where our mutual friend worked. We started hanging out a lot, but I could tell it was going nowhere.
One night she called me and said, let's go over Lil's house. So she came and picked me up.
When we got there I was impressed. Lil had 2 roommates and they rented the second floor of a beautiful craftsman style house in Brookline, MA. It had all the built-ins and some great woodwork and a fireplace. We sat in front of the fireplace, having a few drinks, talking.
A few hours later, our friend excused herself as she said, I think we should go. So I started getting my things together as she left the room when Lil leaned over and said, you don't have to go if you don't want to. I was surprised and as I said I didn't have my car with me, Lil told me she would drive me home. When out friend came back, she said ok Rich, let's go. I told her I was staying, I'll never forget the shocked look on her face. :)
Well, to make this already long story shorter, Lil drove me home the next day. I packed my clothes and drove back to Lil's and we've been together ever since that night. We got married 5 months later. I am so lucky, I was in the right place, at the right time and met the perfect person for me.
From that day on I've learned to roll with the punches because you never know where life is going to lead you.
