Ok... about me. I'm a divorced mom of five, grandma of one, an actress, an English teacher and a writer. I'm also a Life-Coach-in-training. Believe it or not, all these things have a common thread... the Journey of the Hero. I studied Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell in college and became fascinated with their work. I apply The Hero's Journey pattern to everything in my life as a way of checking my own progress:

- As a mom, it has been a heroic quest to bring them up on my own. I've had my trials, slayed some dragons, and collected many rewards. I've just entered the Grandma phase, and I like playing the Wise Woman role!

- As an actress, I use this pattern when I build my characters and bring them to life.

- As an English teacher, I constantly have my students analyze literature using The Hero's Journey, and I evne created an on-line commmunity for them. We just finished The 60 Day Sojourn through the Hero's Journey, and we are working on creative writing. See http://herosjourney.ning.com for more details!

- I am also a writer who has begun to self-publish. I decided to take my writing career in my hands instead of going the traditional route of piles of rejections letters before MAYBE getting it in print. Pfft! I did it myself! Just LAST WEEK! I published my first book on January 1, 2009! I intend to keep writing and keep publishing my own work... and I just know in my heart that I will be successful!

- AND I'm training to be a Life Coach. I intend to use the Hero's Journey as part of my practice, and the book I published will be my clients' workbook. I have ALL KINDS of ideas for how I intend to approach life coaching, and they are all based on my passion... the Journey of the Hero!
